WSRE Wine & Food Classic Announces 2015 Dates and Details

In its 27th year, the WSRE Wine & Food Classic is the granddaddy of local foodie events. This year’s affair, themed Savor & Surf Southern, will begin with the annual walkabout tasting on Friday, Oct. 16. The following weekend, PBS celebrity chef John Besh will be WSRE’s honored guest for an afternoon book signing followed by a fundraising dinner on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Ethan Bortnick’s “A Celebration of America” Premieres July 4th

A new music special, “Ethan Presents: A Celebration of America,” was produced by WSRE for distribution on Public Broadcasting System TV stations nationwide. The patriotic concert was performed before a live audience of military service members at WSRE’s Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio in October. The show premieres locally at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4.

Teachers are enhancing instruction with Florida PBS LearningMedia

The Association of Public Media in Florida (FPBS) announced in December that, with $1 million in support from the Florida Legislature, more than 85,000 digital learning resources available through PBS LearningMedia had been customized to meet K-16 educational standards for Florida schools. Access to this Florida PBS LearningMedia site is free to all Floridians who register.

Next week, WSRE will air two nights of PBS programs commemorating the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. “The Draft” and “Dick Cavett’s Vietnam” air Monday, April 27, starting at 8 p.m. “The Day the ’60s Died” is followed by the Academy Award nominated documentary “Last Days in Vietnam” on Tuesday, April 28, beginning at 7 p.m.
