WHO:              Award-winning author and speaker Jeff Klinkenberg (jeffklinkenberg.com)

WHAT:            Free Public Square Speakers Series event: “Books Every Floridian Should Have on the Shelf.” Klinkenberg will discuss some of his favorite Florida books, working his way up from William Bartram in 1791 to 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winner Jack E. Davis and including “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston—one of America’s 100 favorite books in the running to become “America’s Best-Loved Novel” in “The Great American Read” national vote now taking place. Book signing to follow with Klinkenberg’s latest book, “Son of Real Florida” (University Press 2018), available for purchase.

WHEN:            7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:         WSRE Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio at Pensacola State College

WHY:              This WSRE Public Square Speakers Series event is being presented in conjunction with “The Great American Read”—PBS’ fall series which goes in search of America’s best-loved book—and in partnership with Pensacola State College and the Florida Humanities Council as part of the Florida Humanities Series. Also funded in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Anne Ray Foundation, A Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropy.
