WSRE airs special night of programs spotlighting robots and their creators

PENSACOLA, Fla., April 5, 2016—WSRE has one hat-trick of a broadcast schedule planned for robot fans this Thursday night. Beginning at 7 p.m., back-to-back interviews with robotics engineers Jerry Pratt and James McLurkin will air, followed at 8 p.m. by an encore presentation of NOVA’s “Rise of the Robots” episode which showcases Pensacola’s Institute for Human & Machine Cognition.
Pratt, senior research scientist for IHMC and former MIT classmate of McLurkin, appeared on “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” last year after IHMC’s team finished second in the DARPA Robotics Challenge and he was inducted into the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame. WSRE will rebroadcast this interview at 7 p.m.
In February, Google engineer James McLurkin and his swarm of robots captivated a Pensacola audience during his Public Square Speakers Series engagement at the WSRE Amos Studio. The premiere of his “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” interview airs at 7:30 p.m.
NOVA’s “Rise of the Robots” features IHMC scientists, engineers and humanoid robots competing in the DARPA (U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) Challenge.
