Wine & Food Classic festivities planned to celebrate 50 years of WSRE
PENSACOLA, Fla., July 12, 2017―Local public television fans will want to save the dates for this year’s WSRE Wine & Food Classic, celebrating the station’s 50th broadcast year. A weekend of events is planned for Oct. 20-22 as follows:
“Tastes Through the Decades” Wine & Food Tasting
6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20
Hilton Pensacola Beach (Beachside Lawn) at 12 Via De Luna Dr.
Local chefs participate in this annual walkabout wine and food tasting, competing for the top prize Earl Peyroux Culinary Legacy Award. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1960s attire. Wine sponsors are Silver Oak Winery and Republic National Distributing Company.
“Milestones & Memories” Black Tie Gala
7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21
Hilton Pensacola Beach (Ballroom) at 12 Via De Luna Dr.
This evening of dancing, distinguished guests, fine wines and a dinner presentation from the Emmy-winning host of “Lidia’s Kitchen,” Chef Lidia Bastianich, will be the highpoint of WSRE’s year-long anniversary celebration. Public television leaders Pat Harrison, Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) president and CEO, and Paula Kerger, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) president and CEO, are among the special guests expected to attend.
“Celebrate Like an Italian” with Silver Oak Wines
1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22
So Gourmet & Kitchenry at 407 S. Palafox St., Pensacola
Guests will sample wines from Silver Oak Winery and meet Chef Lidia Bastianich, best-selling author, restaurateur and TV host of “Lidia’s Kitchen,” which airs on WSRE and WSRE Create channels. Bastianich will be signing copies of her new cookbook, “Celebrate Like an Italian.”
