WSRE Rings In The New Year With New Local Programs

Alexandra Cousteau on “Conversations with Jeff Weeks,” Pensacola’s Saenger Theatre on “In Your Own Back Yard” and The Wide Open on “StudioAmped”—all new this Thursday

PENSACOLA, Fla., January 6, 2016Several new episodes of WSRE’s original productions will air beginning Thursday, Jan. 7 when “In Your Own Backyard” explores the Pensacola Saenger Theatre, conservationist Alexandra Cousteau appears on “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” and The Wide Open of Fort Walton Beach kicks off the eighth season of “StudioAmped.” Upcoming premieres of these and other shows are scheduled as follows:

“In Your Own Backyard” (Thursday at 7 p.m.)
Host Sherri Hemminghaus Weeks spotlights local events and attractions: “Pensacola’s Saenger Theatre” on Jan. 7; “The National Shrimp Festival” on Jan. 21; and “The Forts of Pensacola Bay” on Feb. 18.

“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” (Thursday at 7:30 p.m.)
Host Jeff Weeks conducts one-on-one interviews with noteworthy people: global water advocate and filmmaker Alexandra Cousteau on Jan. 7; and “Raven One” author and former Navy pilot Kevin Miller on Jan. 21.

“StudioAmped: Season 8” (Thursday at 9 p.m.)
Regional artists perform original music live from the WSRE Amos Studio stage: The Wide Open on Jan. 7; Whyte Caps on Jan. 14; Bear With Me on Jan. 21; Morning Fatty on Jan. 28; Post Pluto on Feb. 4; The Mosleys on Feb. 11; John Hart Project on Feb. 18; and Melissa Joiner on Feb. 25.

“Aware!” (Saturday at 3 p.m.)
Dee Dee Sharp hosts in-depth discussions on issues impacting diverse communities: “Aware Profile: Pensacola Police Chief David Alexander III” on Jan. 9.

“inStudio” (Thursday at 7 p.m.)
A new current affairs program sharing information, insight and ideas of local interest: “Powdered Alcohol” with host Rameca Vincent Leary on Jan. 14; and “Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Environmental Therapy” with host Jeff Weeks on Jan. 28.

“Pensacola State Today” (Saturday at 3 p.m.)
Host Drexel Gilbert spotlights the people, programs and impact of Pensacola State College: Federal TRIO Outreach and Student Services Programs on Jan. 16.
