WSRE “Surfs” Up Wine & Food From 22 Top Local Chefs

PENSACOLA, Fla., September 23, 2015—Themed Savor & Surf Southern, the 27th Annual WSRE Wine & Food Classic begins with the Grand Southern Tasting on Friday, Oct. 16, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Pensacola Beach. Twenty-two of the area’s top chefs will be participating, and Republic National Distributing Company—a longtime sponsor of this event—will be providing a selection of fine wines. Tickets are $40 and available at wsre.org/wineandfood.

The Wine & Food Classic continues on Sunday, Oct. 25. Chef John Besh will be WSRE’s featured guest for an afternoon meet and greet and book signing from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at So Gourmet, followed by a sold-out fundraising dinner at Jackson’s Steakhouse from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission to the meet and greet event is free with a portion of proceeds from sales of the new “Besh Big Easy” cookbook donated to the WSRE-TV Foundation.
 
A Bodacious Family of Shops is Presenting Sponsor for the 2015 Wine & Food Classic. Will and Jane Merrill are this year’s Honorary Event Chairs. The Grand Southern Tasting is sponsored in part by Gulf Power Company. Besh’s participation is sponsored in part by Polonza Bistro. All proceeds support the mission of WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast, to deliver quality educational media and outreach services.
