Dinosaur Train pulled into town for WSRE PBS KIDS Day at Blue Wahoos game
The excitement began at 3 p.m. for an afternoon full of baseball, hands-on activities and dinosaur fun for kids of all ages inside and outside the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium and at WSRE’s Imagination Station. It was all centered around the PBS Kids show Dinosaur Train and Pensacola State College SGA students served as volunteers. Buddy himself, the show’s T-Rex star, threw out the first pitch of the game at 4 p.m. and kids were invited to come dressed as their favorite dinosaur for this special event. Buddy took a stroll around the stadium to meet his fans, pose for photos and share lots of hugs. There was no charge for the event and following the game, the Dinosaur Train “Classic in the Jurassic” special premiered on the big screen in the Blue Wahoos Stadium.
This event was possible due to a grant awarded to WSRE by the Jim Henson Company specifically to host special events and a premiere screening of the Dinosaur Train special. WSRE was one of only eight PBS stations nationwide to be awarded this grant.
