Trace Beaulieu & Frank Conniff

WSRE Presents:

Trace Beaulieu & Frank Conniff

Thursday, May 26, 2016

WSRE’s Public Square Speakers Series is bringing Mystery Science Theatre 3000 stars Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff to Pensacola with their live movie-riffing show, The Mads are Back!

The authors and actors of the Peabody Award-winning series will speak about their creative journey with MST3K and its impact on the rise of social TV. Following their talk, they will “get into character” for the clever B-movie improvisation for which they are renowned.
The Mad ScientistsOn the show, they played mad scientists Dr. Clayton Forrester and TV’s Frank, who shot their janitor (Joel) and temp employee (Mike) into space (on the Satellite of Love) and forced them to watch “cheesy” old movies, which Joel, Mike and robot companions Crow T. Robot (also played by Beaulieu) and Tom Servo “riffed” with witty and hilarious commentary.
For local fans, WSRE will air episodes of MST3K as part of a new Saturday late-night “PBS Nerd Night” programming block of Tom Baker’s Doctor Who followed by MST3K beginning April 2.

Aside from MST3K, Beaulieu wrote for America’s Funniest Videos for nine seasons, appeared on The West Wing and Arrested Development and had a recurring role on Freaks and Geeks. Conniff has written, produced and/or acted on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Drew Carey Show, Invader Zim and other shows. He has written/produced for Air America Radio and appears on the SiriusXM radio show, Tell Me Everything.
Admission is free. Tickets are not required, but reservations are appreciated.
