Barrington Irving Discusses Aviation on Conversations with Jeff Weeks April 4
Pensacola, Fla. — Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. on WSRE, “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” welcomes Barrington Irving. The youngest person, and the only African American to fly solo around the world, Irving discusses his adventures and his nonprofit organization, Experience Aviation, which teaches students about aviation and other math and science related careers.
Aviation became a passion for Irving after a chance meeting with a commercial airline pilot. He quickly realized it wasn’t enough just to get a pilot’s license; the former inner city kid from Miami, Florida wanted adventure and to make a difference in the world. After completing his trip around the world in 2007, he launched his mission to bring real life aviation experiences to young people. Despite focusing much of his time educating and motivating youth, Irving hasn’t lost his sense of adventure. When a group of students built an airplane and needed a test pilot — they found one in Barrington Irving.
“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” is a half-hour, weekly series that is “personality-driven,” featuring in-depth discussions with unique individuals and leading newsmakers from all walks of life. The program airs Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast.
