Red Carpet Premiere for Sid the Science Kid Movie at WSRE
Pensacola, Fla. — WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast, in partnership with the Emerald Coast Science Center will roll out the red carpet to area children and families for a movie premiere event. Sid the Science Kid: The Movie will be shown on the big screen at WSRE’s Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. The free event is open to the first 450 people to attend. The Emerald Coast Science Center will be on-site to provide fun hands-on activities for families after the movie. WSRE is one of only 20 PBS stations chosen by the Jim Henson Company to host exclusive premieres of its new feature-length movie Sid the Science Kid: The Movie.
Sid the Science Kid: The Movie follows Sid and his friend Gabriela through their adventure in The Super Ultimate Science Museum. After winning a science fair contest for creating an awesome science experiment, Sid and Gabriela are named "Junior Investigators" and get a special viewing of the new museum before it opens to the public. Once there, they meet quirky scientist Dr. Bonabodon, voiced by guest-star Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), who has designed robot tour guides of the future, including Bobbybot, his greatest creation. When Sid and Gabriela are introduced to Yangyang and Niuniu, the impressive big-kid "Future Scientist" contest winners from China, they start to wonder if they really know their science stuff. Together the four pals observe giant honey bees, investigate robots, and even encounter a giant singing Tyrannosaurus Rex. But after their robot tour guide short circuits, Sid, Gabriela, Yangyang, and Niuniu have to work together and use science to try to save the day. Together, they learn that you can be a scientist at any age and that thinking like a kid is sometimes the best way to solve a problem!
The Jim Henson Company presents its first super dooper ooper shmooper Sid the Science Kid feature-length movie featuring everyone's favorite little scientist! Sid the Science Kid: The Movie makes its broadcast premiere on WSRE, Monday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m.
