Conversations Explores Blue Dog Art With Artist George Rodrigue

WSRE’s “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” features artist George Rodrigue on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Rodrigue, who is one of America’s top artists, is best known for his Blue Dog paintings.

Rodrigue talks with Jeff about the early days before Blue Dog and the story of how Blue Dog came to be. In a very candid interview, Rodrigue discussed his vast portfolio of work, as well as how his Louisiana roots influence his artwork.

“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” airs as part of WSRE’s new all-local evening programming block, Explore More Thursdays. The new Thursday night lineup airs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and also features new series “In Your Own Backyard” hosted by Sherri Hemminghaus Weeks, locally produced documentaries and performing arts programs.

In addition to “Conversations with Jeff Weeks,” the Nov. 17 local Thursday night lineup includes a look into the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida on “In Your Own Backyard” at 7 p.m., the “Gulf Coast War Memories” documentary beginning at 8 p.m. and “StudioAmped” at 9 p.m. with music by The Internationals.
