Celebrity Chef, Author and Restaurateur John Besh on Conversations with Jeff Weeks January 5
On Thursday, January 5 at 7:30 p.m., WSRE’s “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” features celebrity chef, author and restaurateur John Besh. A Louisiana native, John Besh talks with Jeff about how his love of cooking began, his interesting route to culinary stardom including a stint in the US Marines, and his passion for New Orleans.
A former U.S. Marine, Besh has been honored by Food & Wine ("Top 10 Best New Chefs in America;") Gourmet Magazine ("Guide to America’s Best Restaurants;") Food Arts (Silver Spoon Award;) and the James Beard Foundation (Best Chef – Southeast). John Besh is a frequent guest chef on NBC’s Today Show, and has appeared on top programs on The Food Network and the Sundance Channel. His books include 2009’s My New Orleans: The Cookbook and his November 2011 release, My Family Table: A Passionate Plea for Home Cooking.

“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” airs as part of WSRE’s new all-local evening programming block, Explore More Thursdays. The new Thursday night lineup airs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and also features new series “In Your Own Backyard” hosted by Sherri Hemminghaus Weeks, locally produced documentaries and performing arts programs.
In addition to “Conversations with Jeff Weeks,” the Jan. 5 local Thursday night lineup includes a look into the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida on “In Your Own Backyard” at 7 p.m., the “Lighthouses of the Gulf Coast” documentary beginning at 8 p.m. and at 9 p.m. “StudioAmped” featuring the music of the regional band Wave.
