Experts Discuss Local Economic Impact of Gulf Coast Oil Spill WSRE Airs Special “Connecting the Community” LIVE Thursday at 7PM

WSRE, Viewer Supported PBS for the Gulf Coast, will air a special live episode of Connecting the Community on Thursday, May 13, 7 to 7:30 p.m., as experts discuss the Gulf Coast Oil Spill and its economic impact on our area.

A panel of guests, including Dr. Rick Harper, director of the University of West Florida's Haas Center for Business Research and Economic Development; Pensacola News Journal business writer Carlton Proctor; and Founder and CEO of Innisfree Hotels Julian MacQueen will discuss the economic impact that is already being felt along the Florida Panhandle. A representative from BP will provide information to viewers on filing an economic loss claim resulting from the oil spill. Viewers can submit questions to be considered for the program by visiting WSRE’s Oil Spill Resources pages at www.wsre.org/OilSpill and clicking “Submit CTC Question.”

Last week’s live Connecting the Community featured representatives from BP, local government, BRACE and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Watch last week’s program online under “Videos” at www.wsre.org/OilSpill.

WSRE is available over the air on digital channel 23-1, on cable channel 8 in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, cable channel 9 in Okaloosa County, and channel 23 on Dish Network, DirecTV, and U-Verse.
