Actress Julia Duffy on the Next “Conversations with Jeff Weeks”
Friday, June 25 at 9 p.m. on WSRE, “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” talks show business with actress Julia Duffy. Best known for her role as Stephanie in the wildly popular sitcom Newhart, which garnered her numerous Emmy nominations, Duffy also played Allison Sugarbaker on the hit show Designing Women. During her visit with Jeff, Duffy talks about the discipline and work ethic it takes to be a successful actress, how the entertainment industry has changed over the years and the effect reality television has had on the acting profession.
Born in Minneapolis, Julia Duffy’s early acting career included roles in soap operas, movies, and popular television series such as Cheers. But it was her role for seven seasons as inn maid Stephanie Vanderkellen in the hit series Newhart that would endear her to millions, earning her 7 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Duffy is married to fellow actor Jerry Lacy, has 2 children and lives in Los Angeles.
“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” is a half-hour, weekly series that is “personality-driven,” featuring in-depth discussions with unique individuals and leading newsmakers from all walks of life. The program airs every Friday night at 9 p.m. on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast with a repeat the following Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Upcoming guests: Ashley Brown and Joshilyn Jackson.
