WSRE General Manager Elected to NETA Executive Committee

Sandy Cesaretti RaySandy Cesaretti Ray, WSRE General Manager, has been elected to serve on the executive committee of the National Educational Telecommunications Association, a national organization of public broadcasters. The NETA board of directors formally accepted the executive committee’s election at their summer meeting in New York City last week.

Peter Morrill, general manager of Idaho Public Television, is the new chair. Polly Anderson, general manager and CEO of KNME / Albuquerque, New Mexico is the vice chair and chair-elect. John Harris III, president and CEO of Prairie Public Broadcasting / Fargo, North Dakota, was re-elected treasurer. Sandy Cesaretti Ray, general manager of WSRE / Pensacola, Florida, was elected board secretary. Allen Weatherly, executive director of AETN / Conway, Arkansas continues on the executive committee as immediate past chair.

Rod Bates, general manager, NET / Lincoln, Nebraska, and Becky Magura, president and general manager, WCTE / Cookeville, Tennessee, are the executive committee’s members at large.

“The NETA board has always been a place where every station – small, large, rural, urban, community licensee, university licensee, and state networks – was represented,” said NETA president Skip Hinton.  “We benefit at every level from the combined guidance of their elected leadership.”

“NETA serves as a valuable asset, especially in these tough times, to public broadcasters around the country. I am honored to serve the dedicated and talented professionals of the association,” said WSRE General Manager, Sandy Cesaretti Ray.

Departing chair Allen Weatherly said, “It has been an honor and a genuine pleasure working with the talented folks at all the member stations and at NETA. Times are tough for all of us in this current economic climate but the talent, commitment to our mission, and dedication will, I believe, see us through.”
