The grand finale concert of WSRE’s third season of StudioAmped will feature two bands – Rumor Mill and Betsy Badwater & The Hillbilly Chrome – on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m.
Based out of Pensacola, Fla., Rumor Mill has become one of the Southeast’s most popular and respected party bands since they popped onto the touring scene in 2007, playing over 200 shows each year. The band has developed a reputation for their versatile shows that always include crowd participation and great stage performances. Rumor Mill has shared the stage with such acts as Saliva, Tantric, Framing Hanley, LIT, The Black Crowes, Cheap Trick, The Human League, Cowboy Mouth, Brother Cane and Dash Rip Rock, as well as regional acts such as The Molly Ringwalds and The Velcro Pygmies. With the sounds of swampbilly blues, country, and rockabilly blended to perfection, Betsy Badwater & The Hillbilly Chrome produce a powerful hybrid Americana sound. Also based in Pensacola, Fla., Betsy Badwater & The Hillbilly Chrome specialize in the art of “hobo percussion,” issuing a challenge on their Facebook page: “Bring us your junk. We’ll play it.” With the ability to play cheese graters, washboards, hubcaps and the kitchen sink, Betsy Badwater & The Hillbilly Chrome entertain the eyes and the ears and have been featured on NPR, Public Television, CNN and Headline News. The band lineup for the StudioAmped concert will include: Betsy Badwater (vocals, guitar, bass drum and tambourine); Lang Hollowman (guitar); Joey Harrison (fat bottom bass) and Devon Coon (hobo percussion).
