PENSACOLA, Fla., Aug. 15, 2023 ― The 33rd annual WSRE Wine & Food Classic will celebrate the culinary prestige of iconic PBS chefs. The event’s marquee Walkabout Tasting will feature top local chefs and music by Nobius on the SCI Building Plaza from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21. Jan and Ron Miller are this year’s honorary event chairs.
Since the 1970s, WSRE has been home to culinary legends and cooking show pioneers like Julia Child, Jacques Pépin and Pensacola’s own Earl Peyroux. Irv Miller, executive chef at Jackson’s Steakhouse in Pensacola, performed as the host chef on WSRE’s “Flavors of the Coast” series in the early 2000s.
Today, WSRE carries a vast lineup of PBS Food programming throughout the WSRE Create schedule, Saturday mornings on the station’s main channel, and anytime via the PBS app.
“This year’s event will pay tribute to culinary legends with the local chefs we all know and love putting their own twists on dishes inspired by iconic PBS chefs,” said event coordinator Jennifer Knisbell, WSRE Development and Community Engagement Director. “Our food programs have a loyal following, and we hope local fans will come enjoy this fun food event while supporting the public television shows they love.”
Tickets to the Walkabout Tasting are $65 at wsre.org/events. Sponsorships are available. Call 850-484-1246 to learn more.
